The lid lies at the foot of Shiroishi Castle, in Masuoka-cho. Walk from Shiroishi Station towards the city hall. A tourist map stands in the station square. The castle was the seat of Katakura Kojuro; stone steps lead up to the keep, and inside, bare wooden stairs climb steeply to a view over the remains of the inner bailey.
