Murata has no railway station either, so you will need a car. The lid is at Michi-no-Eki Murata, beside the car park at the foot of the footbridge. A tourist board in the car park calls the town "the little Kyoto of Michinoku Miyagi, the town of storehouses." From Sendai, leave the Tohoku Expressway at the Murata interchange and follow Route 4 and the prefectural road.
